DREAMING THE FUTURE GOD WANTS FOR YOU
Time to Dream: Trusting God to Open Doors – Part 1
Today we begin our 40 Day spiritual growth campaign entitled: Time to Dream
Our SPIRITUAL GROWTH CAMPAIGN is a concentrated 40-day spiritual boost to your life that we commit to doing together using multiple learning styles to equip & energize us for our future!
- It takes 6 weeks to develop new habits
- We grow (spiritually) in spurts – even nature demonstrates seasons of growth
- By our commitments we control and direct the “ebbs and flows” of life
- We grow in community - join a small group & study God’s Word with others
- 4 basic learning styles: VARK (Visual, auditory, reading/writing, kinesthetic)
God wants to prepare, equip & energize us for the future He has planned for us.
1 Corinthians 12:27 (NCV) Together you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of that body.
It is vitally important that we move forward together. we can only fulfil God’s plan for us as individuals if we join together as the body of Christ.
Romans 1:12 (NCV) I mean that I want us to help each other with the faith we have. Your faith will help me, and my faith will help you.
God has called us to live out our faith in community.
1 Peter 4:10 (ICB) Each of you received a spiritual gift. God has shown you his grace in giving you different gifts. And you are like servants who are responsible for using God’s gifts. So be good servants and use your gifts to serve each other.
Ephesians 2:10 (ERV) God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.
God has pre-planned our lives and once we are born again, He helps us to connect with His plan and purpose for us.
What is a dream?
- A dream can be the thoughts and images you have while sleeping
- The desires and ambitions you have while you are awake
- The goals, plans and purposes that God created you to fulfill
Jeremiah 29:11 (LB) For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
- God’s dream for your life is far bigger & better than your own dream
Ephesians 3:20 (MSG) God can do anything -- far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request or dream in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working gently within us.
God gently maneuvers us towards His dream and destiny for our lives.
- When you follow God’s dream He arranges the circumstances
God gives us His dream for our lives, then He works in our heart and in our circumstances by opening doors of opportunities before us.
Revelation 3:8 (ESV) … I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut …
1 Corinthians 16:9 (Msg) A huge door of opportunity for good work has opened up here. (There is also mushrooming opposition.)
12 REASONS WHY I MUST KNOW GOD’S DREAM FOR MY LIFE!
1.GOD GAVE ME THE CAPACITY TO DREAM
Genesis 1:26 (NCV) Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image and likeness …
Besides God, we are the only being who can dream dreams and determine our own future.
Our capacity to dream about our future is a God-given gift.

4. DREAMS CAN SHOW WHAT GOD WANTS TO DO THROUGH ME

5. MY DREAMS DEFINE ME
Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) For as he thinks in his heart, so is he …
Our dreams, ambitions and even our self-talk define who we really are.
6. A DREAM KEEPS ME GROWING
Philippians 3:12–15 (NCV) I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal, but I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that, which is the reason he made me his. 13 Brothers and sisters, I know that I have not yet reached that goal, but there is one thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me through Christ to the life above. 15 All of us who are spiritually mature should think this way, too …
7. A DREAM FOCUSES MY ENERGY
1 Corinthians 9:26 (LB) So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win. I’m not just shadow-boxing or playing around.
8. A DREAM STRETCHES MY FAITH
Matthew 9:29 (NIV84) … According to your faith will it be done to you …
Our faith empowers us to fulfil our God-given dreams.
9. A DREAM KEEPS ME GOING IN TOUGH TIMES
Job 6:11 (NLT) But I do not have the strength to endure. I do not have a goal that encourages me to carry on.
2 Corinthians 4:7–8 (NKJV) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
10. A GREAT DREAM INSPIRES OTHERS TO DREAM
Proverbs 11:27 (GNB) If your goals are good, you will be respected, but if you are looking for trouble, that is what you will get.
11. MY SELF-DISCIPLINE WILL BE REWARDED IN HEAVEN
1 Corinthians 9:25 (NLT) All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
12. GOD-GIVEN DREAMS ARE A GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 2:17–18 (NIV84) In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
