- Live Your Calling - “What On Earth Am I Here For”?
Subtitle: CALLED TO BE SENT …
Today is the 6th Sunday in our 40 Day Campaign: What on Earth am I here for?
Last week’s focus: The 4th CALLING of my life: I AM CALLED TO BLESS OTHERS
Today’s focus: The 5th CALLING of my life: I AM CALLED TO BE SENT …
The 5 Callings on our lives: Be Loved... Belong...Become... Bless … Be Sent
- GOD’S PLAN FOR HUMANITY:
He’s Gathering A Family that will Love & Live with Him forever!
Ephesians 1:5 (LB) His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by sending Jesus Christ to die for us. And he did this because he wanted to!
Adoption into God’s family isn’t automatic.
Adoption only happens if and when people “call on the name of the Lord” for their salvation.
For this to happen, someone has to pass on the good news to them.
Romans 10:13–15 (NLT) For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
- MY 5th PURPOSE & CALLING FOR MY LIFE:
I’m sent to bring others into God’s family
2 Corinthians 5:18 (ICB) … Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself. And God gave us the work of bringing everyone into peace with him.
This is God’s eternal Peace Plan!
The Bible calls it: The Ministry of Reconciliation.
The success of God’s Peace Plan depends on you accepting your 5th Calling!
John 20:21 (ESV) Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
Every believer has been sent by God.
At Victory CC, we take this verse VERY seriously!
- What is the PEACE PLAN?
Every believer accepting God’s calling of being sent to spiritually lost people to share the message of peace.
2 Corinthians 5:18–19 (NCV) … God gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with him. 19 … And he gave us this message of peace.
The message of peace is also called the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the Good News of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, His burial and His subsequent resurrection from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NIV) For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
- The PEACE PLAN HAS 3 DIMENSIONS
a. PERSONAL- my personal mission to the people in my life
b. LOCAL - my small group’s mission to others in our area
c. GLOBAL - our church’s mission to the entire world
- JESUS GAVE US A MODEL TO FOLLOW: P.E.A.C.E.
JESUS’ STRATEGY 5 GLOBAL GIANTS
Preach reconciliation / Plant churches Spiritual emptiness
Equip servant leaders Self-centered leaders
Assist the poor Extreme poverty
Cure (heal) the sick Pandemic diseases
Educate the next generation Illiteracy & education
Acts 1:8 (NIV) … you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, AND in all Judea AND Samaria, AND to the ends of the earth.”
All four areas and all people groups are to be evangelized simultaneous, not sequentially.
Matthew 28:19 (NIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO?
Acts 20:24 (NCV) I don’t care about my own life. The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me—to tell people the Good News about God’s grace.
How can I achieve God’s calling of “Being Sent”
- PRAY THAT PEOPLE WILL SAY “YES” TO GOD!
1 Timothy 2:1,3–4 (NIV) I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people … 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Ephesians 1:16–18 (GNB) I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers 17 and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him. 18 I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people.
Satan blinds the minds of people (2 Corinthians 4:4), but we pray for God to open their mind and heart so they can see, believe and be saved.
Matthew 9:37–38 (NCV) Jesus said to his followers, “There are many people to harvest but only a few workers to help harvest them. 38 Pray to the Lord, who owns the harvest, that he will send more workers to gather his harvest.”
Part of our calling is to pray for more workers to be sent to harvest souls.
- GIVE FINANCIALLY TO HELP OTHERS GO!
Our financial giving to the cause of Christ is a tangible expression of our faith, and of our passion to reach spiritually lost people.
3 John 8 (GW) We must support believers who go on trips like this so that we can work together with them in spreading the truth.
Our financial help to send others to harvest souls means we also share in the reward of their labours.
Matthew 10:8 (NKJV) … Freely you have received, freely give.
- STEP OUT IN FAITH!
Isaiah 6:8–9 (NIV) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” 9 He said, “Go and tell this people …
If you want God to use you greatly - you must volunteer!
Psalm 67:2 (LB) Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind.
- WHERE I CAN GO NOW!
Luke 8:39 (NCV) (Jesus said) Go back home and tell people how much God has done for you. So the man went all over town telling how much Jesus had done for him.
2 Timothy 4:5 (NLT) (This Week’s Memory Verse)
“Work at bringing others to Christ.”
Invite someone to the upcoming Easter Service
Explore and pray about reaching lost people with 3 perspectives:
1. MY GROUP
Pray about ideas as to what you can do to reach souls for Christ. Bring them back to your group to discuss a GROUP OUTREACH PROJECT.
2. MY FAMILY
Look for an opportunity to invite the whole family to a Small Group social event, or to a church service, including those who aren’t yet saved.
Ask God what role He has for you in reaching souls for Christ. Ask Him where and to whom He is sending you to tell the Good News of Jesus to spiritually lost people.
Heavenly Father, today we’ve talked about the subject that is dearest to your heart! You want people in your family! It’s the reason you created the universe and the reason you sent Jesus to die for us!
So we pray two things: First, give us faith to believe that you could use us to make a difference for eternity . Second, keep us from being distracted from our 5th Purpose, because we know that Satan fights this calling more than any other in our lives. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
