Stefan Schlogl was born and raised on a farm in upper Austria; he trained as a chef and began to travel the world, coming to New Zealand in 1979. Two years later he met Vanessa and was born again. Vanessa was born and raised in Devonport, Auckland. At the age of 20 Vanessa went on a working holiday to Europe. In 1979 while in Scotland her auntie led her to the Lord. She returned to New Zealand 18 months later. Stefan and Vanessa met while working at the Chateau hotel; they travelled throughout New Zealand working for the THC government hotel chain. They began attending church in Wanaka and were married a short time after.
From the time they were married they sensed a strong desire to serve the Lord as pastors. From Wanaka, God lead them to Wellington; 2 years later they became members of a ‘Word of Faith’ church and attended their Bible School taught by Rhema graduates in 1985-86. At that time God impressed upon their hearts to start a church in Hutt city. After much prayer, Victory Christian Centre was started in January of 1989. In 1990 they were officially ordained by Pastor Ron Halverson of Bethel Christian Centre in California.
Victory Christian Centre has been on an incredible journey; from humble beginnings; to a church that has grown to touch the lives of many, both locally and overseas through the thousands of dollars given to missions.

Our Victory Culture
Like natural families, our church family has a set of values that we hold to and live out together.
Word of Faith
Our culture is one of "faith" and "victory". We believe God's Word is essential for life transformation. As people learn who they are in Christ, their authority as believers they will experience victory in all areas of their life and will grow to the fullness of Christ and see God’s plans outworked on earth through them.
The word "contemporary" simply means we want to be relevant to our generation.
We believe the Holy Spirit has been given to us as believers to empower us both spiritually and naturally. We believe when a believer is baptised with the Holy Spirit they recieve a special enabling of spiritual gifts. We also believe it is the privilege and right of every believer to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the "evidence" of the gift of speaking in tongues.
Reaching our Community for Christ
We run evangelism course that equip believers to be confident to share their faith.
We provide opportunites where beleivers can get invovled in community programmes as well as overseas missions.
As a leadership team, we teach our church family how to live out the 5 New Testament Purposes for their lives.
Victory is built on a network of Small Groups
Life is not meant to be lived alone. We were created to experience life with other people, and that's why at VICTORY, we encourage everyone to get into a small group. A small group is a group of three or more people who gather each week in a home, workplace, or cafe. In a group you'll hang out, study the Word, and pray together.
Excellence & Integrity
God has given us His BEST, therefore we beleive and encourage our church family to live lives of service, giving God our BEST.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
About the Bible
We believe that the Bible is God’s written Word to mankind, divinely inspired by God and recorded by godly men under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is absolute truth without any mixture of error, and is therefore the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and behaviour.
About Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully Man, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the Cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He returned to heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father, and will return to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.
We believe there is only one God, Creator and Ruler of the universe who exists eternally as three distinguishable Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, each fully God yet each personally distinct from the other
About the Devil
We believe in the existence of the devil and his past and present operation to deceive people. We believe in his past defeat through Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on the Cross, and his future eternal judgement in the Lake of Fire together with his angels.
About the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God and is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also indwells every Christian from the moment of salvation. Through the additional Pentecostal experience the believer is filled with supernatural power to be a witness to the truth of the Gospel. Believers need to stay filled with the Holy Spirit, thus being empowered for everyday living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance to do what is right. The Christian needs to live under His leadership daily.
About Human Beings
We believe that originally people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him. However, through disobedience the whole human race became separated from God and His purposes for their lives. Although every person has a potential to do good, all people are marred with a nature called ‘sin’ that results in eternal death.
We believe people were created to exist forever. Each individual will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God results in eternal death (Hell). To be eternally in union with God results in eternal life (Heaven). Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
We believe salvation is God’s free gift to people, but they must accept it. People can never make up for ‘sin’ by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When people turn from their self-ruled lives and in faith turn to Jesus Christ, they are saved. Eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of their life.
About The Church
We believe there is one true universal church, made up of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. These believers gather together in local assemblies for worship and prayer, fellowship, teaching of the Word of God, service and the observance of water baptism and communion. The local Church, under the watch and care of pastors and other leaders works together in love and unity to fulfil the Great Commission thus glorifying Jesus Christ.
About Miracles and Divine Healing
We believe in the empowering of every believer to work miracles by the present-day operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the healing of the physical body by God’s power as practised in the early church.
